Nourishing Grass-Fed Beef Bone Broth

Ingredients

Directions

Ingredients:

  • 2-3 pounds grass-fed beef soup bones
  • 2 carrots, chopped
  • 2 celery stalks, chopped
  • 1 onion, quartered
  • 4 cloves garlic, smashed
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • Fresh herbs (such as thyme, rosemary, or parsley)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Water

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the grass-fed beef soup bones on a baking sheet and roast them for 30-40 minutes or until they develop a rich golden-brown color.
  2. In a large stockpot, combine the roasted soup bones, chopped carrots, celery, onion, garlic, bay leaves, apple cider vinegar, fresh herbs, salt, and pepper. Fill the pot with enough water to cover all the ingredients.
  3. Bring the pot to a boil over high heat. Once boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer gently for 8-12 hours. The longer you simmer, the richer and more flavorful the broth will become.
  4. As the broth simmers, skim off any impurities or foam that rise to the surface. This step helps to ensure a clear and clean broth.
  5. After simmering, carefully strain the broth through a fine-mesh sieve into a large container or multiple smaller containers. Discard the bones and vegetable solids.
  6. Allow the broth to cool before storing it in the refrigerator or freezer. If refrigerated, use within 4-5 days. If frozen, the broth can be stored for several months.
  7. Use the grass-fed beef bone broth as a flavorful base for soups, stews, or sip it as a nutrient-rich warm beverage. Enjoy the nourishing benefits of this homemade bone broth!
